Substitute Policy
While consistency is important when establishing a relationship with your students, we realize that sometimes things happen unexpectedly.
Begin securing your substitute as soon as you know you will be absent. It is more difficult to find a substitute on short notice. REMEMBER … You may need to make several calls before you find a substitute. In some of the classes and positions, we have volunteers who are “relief team members.” In those cases, we suggest you contact your relief team member as your first attempt at procuring a substitute.
It is extremely important that we have TWO teachers in each class every week. So, even if your class is usually small and your partner is extremely competent, you must find a substitute. NEVER ASSUME THAT A CLASS WILL RUN JUST FINE WITHOUT YOU. PLEASE DO YOUR BEST TO LOCATE A SUB. Be sure to call Colleen Gray and tell her who will be taking your place in your absence so that we can make sure they have a short form application on file before serving.
